THIS is just everything I want in an alien monster. Green and sickly purple skin, cephalopod and arthropod traits mixed into a kung-fu-capable seijin form. Jawless, fanged maw. Eyes where they don't belong. Weird anatomy all over, despite being humanoid. A curiously anthropomorphized section of said anatomy that gives it the appearance of wearing something.
I don't like him. He fits waaay too much into the standard "guy in a rubber/latex suit" trope. His design is boring, and his powers will cheese the ever-living daylights out of people. His only listed weakness is a personality trait.
Also some people had a toy of him when they were young. This design shares certain similarities (cite: every main design of) Transformers Beast Wars Claw Jaw. Tentacle arms, squidy head, regular-ish legs, and wings made up of a squids tentacles.
Well, he's supposed to be a tribute to the monsters that would appear in Kamen Rider and Super Sentai shows. So yeah, his rubber-suit-ness is kind of part of the design. Those monsters were created not necessarily to try and "hide" their rubber suit aspect, but to rather revel in it. Of course, not everyone likes rubber suit monsters.
Hm. I remember Claw Jaw. I guess he has SOME similarities. [link] He also shares some design elements with Ikadevil - [link]
Not to mention a lot of other giant squid monsters.
He's also a boss monster, so yes, he's SUPPOSED to be powerful.
I still can't shake off his looks. Claw Jaw's toy is a lot more like this space squid (or is it the other way around?). I never saw Ikadevil despite me watching carious Kamen Rider shows. And I find Super Sentai too disconnected with this world to be able to watch it for any length of time. But no one informed me of his bossiness, so that's better.
