Vertigo is perhaps the most vile and wicked of all the beast gods (Diablo aside). Cruel and untrustworthy, she is deception and trickery made manifest. Vertigo takes great joy in torturing the minds of lesser beings, not to mention petrifying them (then shattering their bodies) or injecting them with venom and watching as they writhe in agony.
Vertigo is not one to jump into battle without knowing the facts, limitations and abilities of the factors and her opponents. That said, the result makes her somewhat over-cautious, if not cowardly. However, she is a fearsome fighter, and can beat many an opponent into bloody submission.
Vertigo rules a section of what was once Europe, and surrounds her lair with frozen statues of other creatures. Her prized sorcerous is Malyssa, a lustful and sly woman of about 1000 years of age (of course, her looks speak otherwise ) Malyssa moreover remains loyal to Vertigo out of fear rather than loyalty, as the giant serpent is a much more powerful spellcaster than she.
Vertigo, of course, could do without the other gods, but she finds them amusing, sometimes. She is annoyed by the duty-bound Armadon, is disgusted by Chaos, would love to simply devour Talon, has little use for Slashfang, somewhat fears Sauron, and, while sometimes allying with Diablo, seems to constantly have some new scheme to betray him. Of particular interest to her is Blizzard, for while she despises him beyond reason, she cannot help but feel a certain respect for the giant ape. At best (or worst) she would see him frozen as a statue in the center of her lair, as a testament rather than simply decor.
