Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:
Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang. :D
The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Big G Times - August 14th 2011

This'll be a shorter entry than usual, but no less awesome!

- DESTROY ALL MONSTERS now has an Amazon.com entry and cover art! Granted, the art might as well be from GHIDORAH THE THREE HEADED MONSTER, but it's very nicely developed and professional (a far cry from usual DVD art for these films).

- GAMERA 3 is receiving a spiffy Blu-Ray release, not to mention will be packaged along with the previous two films. Despite the dearth of special features for GUARDIAN OF THE UNIVERSE and ATTACK OF THE LEGION, both transfers are vastly superior to the extremely low-grade ADV releases in both picture and sound quality, so G3 will likely be a welcomed upgrade as well. AND it will apparently have some fancy features too!

- The new Godzilla toyline, MONSTERARTS, is getting a series of commercials directed by Koichi "Lasers n' Sparks" Kawakita :)

The SH Monsterarts Godzilla toyline indeed looks epic, but definitely not worth $60.00 of my money unfortunately. Heck, buying Revoltech figures at $24.00 to $32.00 is just pushing it! It'll have to wait.

However, the Gamera Trilogy BluRay set looks like something within my price range! :D

...I reeeally hope that's not the final DVD cover art for DAM. Not just because it looks more appropriate for Ghidrah, but also because it just overall doesn't look very good. >_>
