Update - My plans for fan art have been shattered. I don't think anything I could do would come close to 's amazing vision.

My initial impressions -
- Definitely a lot of "buzz words" and "posing" by the lead actors, which is to be expected in a film of this type.
- I found the opening monologue a little cheesy and kinda' weak, but the speech by Idris "The Sexual Warlord" Elba was pretty damn cool.
- Man, now THAT'S how you make/film giant CGI robots. The "Bayformers," while having a handful of decent moments, are all such incomprehensible piles of metal and shrapnel that it just makes for bad overall aesthetic. The Jaegers do it right - broad colors, recognizable humanoid shapes, and ROCKET PUNCHES. It'll be interesting to see what kind of different powers and attacks each robot brings to the table.
- And as for the monsters...well, to be honest, you get a decent sense of their scale and ferocity, but not much in the way of detail or individuality, so it's overall a little underwhelming on that front, but if they intend to keep the true nature/abilities of the kaiju under wraps, I'm down
- Seems to me that there's three monsters in the trailer (maybe four) - the creature from San Francisco (with yellow eyes and a burning energy in its mouth), the blue-eyed monster that can be seen fighting Gipsy Danger (the blue American mech), and a final, small-headed monster with green energy crackling about its mouth and antennae/tendril/things. The dead kaiju on the battleship looks to be different from the others as well.
- Human action has some interesting stuff going on too. Rinko Kikuchi's character can be seen squaring off with Charlie Hunnam in what appears to be a sparring session...a nice nod to the fact that the Jaegers rely on martial-arts prowess.
- We have a brief glimpse of a badly-damaged Gipsy Danger, and the Japanese Jaeger (Coyote Tango) is nowhere to be seen...could that be the "outdated mech" mentioned in the film synopsis? Japan, after all, is the nation hardest hit by the kaiju crisis in this universe...so it makes sense that their robots are gettin' a little creaky. Plus the blueprint for Coyote Tango is considerably older and more worn than the others...
