For those dissatisfied with KINGDOM OF MONSTERS, don't worry, EVERYTHING will be different in the new series. Here's to a great 2012!

I knew I was watching a kick-ass kaiju artist.
I had no idea I was watching someone who actually CONTRIBUTES TO OFFICIAL GODZILLA MEDIA!!
Sir, your awesomeness just went off the scale. I'm going to bring this up with some people I know at our nerd club (GeekFest) who do a weekly little panel on comics to see if they/let them know.
Still, I do quite like the premise of KoM; hell, I have a very similar plot in mind for that still 'in intellectual development' project of mine: "Godzilla: Onslaught"
for gods sake why the bloody hell cant they get good artist on the interiors for the running series. he is better than the 2 on KOM but still. if its a matter of time i would GLADLY wait 3-4 months extra for the series to start coming out if it ment it had an artist that was better but takes longer.
consider me disapointed in the artist pic if nothing else. but i am very happy IDW isnt just gonna drop doing godzilla books as i feared they would when KOM kinda tanked. gangsters and goliaths was strong and legends is damn good. so im very hopeful for the future
But here's the thing - Political commentary and death to innocent bystanders has been around since the original film, and has popped up continuously throughout the franchise. Many of the Godzilla films have at least some form of political or social commentary to them that was reflective of the times (Gojira - post-war nuclear fear, Mothra vs. Godzilla - unchecked corporate greed, Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster - extreme pollution problems, Godzilla's Revenge - effect of Japan's changing infrastructure on children and their home life, Godzilla vs. Biollante - dangers of bio-engineering, GMK - Japan's newer generations willfully ignorant of their culture, history and heritage, etc. etc.)
Yes, Godzilla movies are escapism, but that's definitely never been exclusive to the messages inherent to the genre.
