Straight in the middle. If the soundtrack was stronger, the editing less haphazard, and the characters more interesting and better-acted (killing off Joe Brody and focusing on Ford was the biggest mistake in the film), it would be great. It was very well directed, and the MUTOs are great monster designs. Edwards is an excellent director, but I would not say he's the perfect match for Godzilla. Still it's a good movie. I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10. On the list of Godzilla films, I put it smack dab in the middle. It's not his best outing, but it's not his worst either.  Worth a rewatch with the remote handy to fast-forward
